Day 24: Mindful Christmas.
Welcome to the last day of this mindfulness Advent calendar. How about bringing in some mindfulness to all the Christmas food this year? Whenever you eat something the next time make sure you sit down and don’t have any distractions (TV, books, your phone…). Don’t start eating right away and take a moment to remember everything and everyone that was necessary to make your meal possible (sunlight, soil, rain, farmers, employees from all the distributors, the person who put it in the shelves of your supermarket etc.). Can you let a feeling of gratefulness spread? Can you feel all the energy in your food that will nourish you? Take a close look at your food without thinking about it. What shapes and colours can you see? Bring a first bite to your nose and smell the food mindfully, before taking it in your mouth. What can you sense and taste? Continue eating mindfully until you feel satisfied.
How are you feeling now? Food is a common way to escape reality and often we find ourselves eating fast and rather big amounts of food, as if we’re trying to eat the joy and sweetness we can’t find within our hearts. If we eat delicious food mindfully we manage to nourish both our bodies and souls.
That was it from the mindfulness Advent Calendar; I hope you enjoyed it and found some peace and quiet within yourself. Now I wish you and your loved ones a merry merry Christmas, full of love, presence, inner peace and serenity.
Advent season is supposed to prepare us for Christmas and bring calm, light, and joy to the dark winter days. However, December is one of the busiest months for most people and it seems almost impossible to find some rest. That’s why Heartbridges Writings has created this mindfulness Advent calendar. You will find a daily post with a picture and a suggestion for a small exercise, that should grant you a moment of calm even on the most stressful day. For more information check out my first post on the calendar.
