Day 18: Mindful Morning.
Welcome to day 18 of this mindfulness Advent calendar. All you have to do for today’s exercise is breathing mindfully, if possible during morning hours. Close your eyes for one minute and take a couple of deep breaths. Follow your breath from the moment it enters your nose until it reaches the lowest part of your belly. You can also stay present with the out-breath, but the main focus of this exercise is the in-breath. Remember that this is a whole new day with a fresh start and that you are lucky to have a beating heart, to be alive. Take in freshness and vital energy with every in-breath.
How are you feeling now? This exercise has been helping me a lot during times of depression because it’s a beautiful reminder of being alive, and of taking in life with every breath.
