Day 5: Give Yourself A Smile.
Welcome to day 5 of this mindfulness Advent calendar. Today’s exercise is as simple as it is effective: Pause whatever you’re doing right now, close your eyes and give yourself a smile. Notice the corners of your mouth turn up, become aware of how the shape of your mouth changes. Can you feel your cheeks lift? When does the smile reach your eyes? Observe mindfully how this smile makes you feel. Can you sense the calm and sweet joy it brings?
How are you feeling now? The benefits of smiling have long been scientifically proven and it’s not only “I’m happy, that’s why I smile” but also “I smile, that’s why I’m happy”. Moreover our smiles are contagious and spread much needed positive vibes! So keep on smiling 🙂
I wish you a lovely fifth of December and will be back with more mindfulness tomorrow.
Advent season is supposed to prepare us for Christmas and bring calm, light, and joy to the dark winter days. However, December is one of the busiest months for most people and it seems almost impossible to find some rest. That’s why Heartbridges Writings has created this mindfulness Advent calendar. You will find a daily post with a picture and a suggestion for a small exercise, that should grant you a moment of calm even on the most stressful day. For more information check out my first post on the calendar.
