Mindfulness Advent Calendar: Day 2

Day 2: Mindful Listening.


Welcome to day 2 of this mindfulness Advent calendar. For today’s exercise I’d like you to sit or lay down for a small moment and close your eyes. Shift your attention to the sounds around you and start noticing them, without thinking about or judging them. Are they loud or quiet? Do they have a rhythm? Are they recurring? Where are the sounds coming from, and where are they going once they fade away? Also take a moment to notice the silence out of which the sounds emerge.

How are you feeling now? It only takes one or two minutes of this small exercise to calm down body, mind and soul. Enjoy experimenting with it!

  1. To take a moment of silence is a very effective tool for redirecting our thoughts and energy in the present moment. In the silence, we see and listen much better! Thank you Martina for reminding us of the importance of this exercise.
